One of AJA’s very first projects, completed in the last millennium; a new house on the Thames in Caversham.
The house is raised above the floodplain; it looks its best when the garden floods and the house strides into the water on massive brick piers.
The design was compromised by the requirement that it be gable-ended, but it still won a few awards:
Daily Telegraph Townhouse Award
BDA Brick House of the Year Award
RIBA Downland Prize
